Obituary

Alex entered into eternal life surrounded by family and loved ones, steadfast in his faith and trust in Christ. Alex was a devoted son, friend, and disciple of Jesus, whose life reflected a deep and abiding Catholic faith. He embraced life with joy, generosity, and a spirit of service that touched everyone he met.

Alex loved running, playing soccer, and singing, and he found joy in fellowship and community. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, graduated from Indianola High School, and went on to earn his degree in Finance from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. At Benedictine, Alex’s light shone brightly—whether serving as a Resident Assistant in St. Joseph Hall, offering a listening ear and warm welcome to residents, or organizing community-building programs ranging from cocktail mixology nights to spirited games and gatherings. Known for his ready smile and thoughtful wisdom, Alex created an environment where everyone felt seen, valued, and loved.

Beyond his RA duties, Alex was active with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), sang in the Mass choir, and took part in intramural sports, bringing camaraderie and joy to those around him. His life on campus was rooted in prayer and devotion; he attended daily Mass and often spent quiet hours in the adoration chapel, keeping Christ at the center of all he did.

Alex also worked at Riverwood Winery in Atchison and shared his time generously with Catholic Youth Camp, where he encouraged and guided young people with compassion and faith. His servant’s heart inspired all who knew him to live with greater love and courage.

Even during his courageous battle with cancer, Alex never lost his radiant joy or his care for others. While receiving treatment, he visited other children in the clinic to offer smiles, encouragement, hope, and a friendly game—reminding them that they were never alone.

Alex’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. He lived so that others might see Christ through him. His family expresses profound gratitude to the many friends, medical staff, and members of the community who offered support and prayers throughout his journey.

Alex was a man of beautiful faith, always leading by example. In his words and actions, he sought to reflect Christ to the world. To him we say: well done, good and faithful servant. Though his life was brief, it was rich in purpose, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to shine in the hearts of those he touched.

Alex is survived by his parents, Jeremy and Jana Lynch; brother, Connor Lynch; grandparents, Joe and Jean Lynch and John and Donna Schletzbaum; aunts and uncles including Mike and Deanna Dunn, David and Esther Schletzbaum, Patti and Shane Simon, Dan and Lacy Lynch, Kattie Lynch and Andrew Labs; along with his amazing cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
