Services for Adelaide Mae Wise Beck, 84, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at home, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 2 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Martensdale. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Rolls and coffee will be served before services.

Adelaide Mae Wise was born August 21, 1921 in Madison County, Iowa to Harry Burban and Ida Mae Travis Wise. She married Virgle Clinton Beck at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Martensdale on March 16, 1939. Virgle passed away April 16, 2005 after 66 years of marriage. Adelaide, Virgle, and their seven children lived many years on a farm near Norwalk in Warren County. Adelaide was a busy Mother, homemaker, gardener and crafter. She lived her last years in Indianola being a devoted caregiver to Virgle, during his illness and enjoying many visits from family and friends. Adelaide's home was always open and welcoming to visitors. Adelaide was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Adelaide is survived by her children, Virginia (Dale) Lovstad, Merrill (Ronda) Beck, Marilyn (Bob) Benge, Donna (Art) Moose and Donald (Jo) Beck; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Walker. She was preceded by her husband and daughters, Dorothy and Carolyn.

Visitation will be held 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
