Addalene Evelyn Ferguson, 96, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, September 7. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial will take place in the Palmyra Cemetery.
Addalene was born December 8, 1927 to Ross and Marvel Burgett in Chariton, IA. She was raised in Summerset, IA and was a 1945 graduate of Indianola High School. Following graduation, she worked for O'Dea Finance as a secretary for the FHA Department until she married Donald in 1946. She continued to work for an insurance company until her 3 children were born. She and Donald then settled in Palmyra where they raised their family.
She was an avid quilter, loved spending time outside gardening and tending to her flowers. She was an early riser and enjoyed watching wildlife. She volunteered at the Iowa State Fair, she belonged to the JFF, Palmyra Stitchery, Carlisle Quilt and Fiber Group, Indianola Quilting Guild, Yacht Club.
Family was always important to her and she relished having everyone home for the Holidays.
Addalene is survived by her children, Donna Wilhoit of Altoona, Randy (Deb) Ferguson of Swisher and Debbie (Randy) Kain of Carlisle; grandchildren, Michael Wilhoit, Jared Kain, Brad (Rachel) Kain, Krista (Claus) Westphal, Hannah (John) Gilroy, Brandon Farr, Miranda Farr; great-grandchildren, Sydney Kain, Fergus Gilroy, James Gilroy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son-in-law, Douglas Wilhoit; grandson, Garrett Farr.
Memorials in memory of Addalene may be given to the Indianola First United Methodist Church.
