ABBIE HADE Indianola Abbie Hade died peacefully in her sleep at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. A celebration of her life will be held at the Indianola Country Club on Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Eleanor Abbie Crews was born October 31, 1930 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Lester and Florence Crews. Abbie married Robert Hade on June 13, 1954. She and Bob have lived in Indianola, Iowa for over 50 years. Abbie was a homemaker for many years. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Warren County Sheriff's office and later as a minority counselor and administrative assistant at Simpson College. She worked with minorities and visiting Saudi Arabian students in the 1970s and worked to foster racial equality throughout her life. Abbie saw the good in all people and took great joy in helping others. She will be remembered for her compassion and love of all people. She welcomed everyone into her home and heart and listened with openness and without judgment. One of her favorite quotes was "All people smile in the same language." Many have said that she helped them through their own difficult times. Besides raising their own children, she and Bob offered a home to many foster children. Abbie was considered a second mother to countless people. Wonderful memories will be held in the hearts of her husband of 56 years, Bob Hade, their children: Jeanie (Gene) Tyler of Winterset, Tim (Dianne) Hade of Indianola, Joel (Deb) Hade of Indianola, Jon (Tina) Hade of Des Moines and Jennie (Shawn) Garner of North Liberty, Iowa. Grandchildren include: Hollie Fairholm; Toby Tyler; Sarah Lick; Casey, Andreu, Alex and Bobby Hade; Sarah Cline; Brett Schooler; Allison Hade; Reggie Hypes, Jessi Wagner, Micki Wardyn, Krissi Headrick; Jillian and Jacob Hade; and Nick and Sadie Garner. Abbie also has several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Abbie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Florence Crews; her sisters, Marian Smith and Anne Elston; her daughter, Robin Hade Baker; and her grandson, Christopher Hade.
