Services for Aaron Ashton Wickett, 47, of New Virginia, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home with burial following in the New Virginia Cemetery.
Aaron Ashton Wickett was born on November 7, 1978 in Des Moines, IA. He started school in Indianola, but later moved to New Virginia, where he attended Interstate 35 Schools. Aaron was part of the wrestling team in high school and graduated from Interstate 35 in 1997. After graduating, Aaron had many jobs after including laying and polishing concrete, laying pipeline all over the country with his Uncle Jeff, landscaping and his most recent job was at Doors Inc. where he helped with their manufacturing process. Aaron did whatever it took to take care of his family.
Aaron married Casie Spence and to that marriage were born Luke Ashton and Benjamin Ryan. Aaron also had a truly loved step-son Jesse Lee Tollett. Aaron later married Cassandra Kight and from that marriage he had a strong bond with his step-daughters Lydia and Laila Nelson, after their divorce.
Aaron loved to fish. He even went on a fishing trip on Lake Superior with his father and uncle once. He loved his Jeep and had quite a collection of ducks to go with his car. He was quite proud of his collection of cartoon character glasses from the 1970's and 1980's. Aaron deeply loved his family. He never missed a football game, for the boys, always showed up and never missed a Wickett family dinner
Aaron passed away at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines on April 3, 2026, peacefully, with his family at his side.
Aaron is survived by his mother, Vickie Wickett; sons, Luke Wickett and Benjamin Wickett; brother, Justin Wickett; sister, Ashley Potter; and brother-in-law, Jon Potter. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Wickett and son, Jesse Lee Tollett.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Aaron may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
